6 Loyalty Programs I Took Advantage of for My Birthday

So, I was originally debating on continuing this idea from my food blog or writing about a different topic. What made me decide to continue on with this idea is that Ben Soffer, Celebrity went on The Toast on Friday and renewed my feelings against Starbucks. This motivated me to continue on my train of alternative places to visit other than Starbucks.

The short version (but click for the hyperlink to the long version) is that I don’t love the conditions around the Starbucks loyalty program, so I found other ways to celebrate my birthday. In conjunction with my food blog, here are 6 non-food related loyalty programs I signed up for and tried to take advantage of for my birthday.

Here is a photo of me at my new dining table eating breakfast on my birthday. I can't tell if I still had food in my mouth when this photo was taken...

1. AMC Theaters

I feel like I’m one of the few people who still enjoys going to the movie theater to watch a movie, so I have actually had my AMC account for a while now (the draw of the AMC Theaters where I am is that they have reclining chairs). However, I didn’t know until I started searching for birthday rewards that I have a free large popcorn loaded into my account until the end of the month. It sounds like a cute date night for my birthday; all I need is to choose something to see.

While most people would go to a movie theater and argue that they love movie theater butter popcorn, I have a preference for kettle corn, so I keep bring this seasoning with me whenever I go to the movies (since they stopped selling them at some locations).

2. Ulta Beauty Rewards

So really, my birthday came as a reminder that I needed to update my Ulta account, because I have changed my phone number and don’t even remember making a password. Luckily, I was still able to claim my birthday gift with a coupon that was sent to my email. I chose the Stila Stay on All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, which is perfect for me because I’ve tried it before and I was running out of eyeliner.

3. Sephora

Luckily, I had logged into this one recently, but I still haven’t decided what gift I’m going to claim for my birthday yet. I’m not at a tier where I can get the hair product I want, but the things I would’ve gotten have already been claimed. At this current moment in time, I am thinking I should’ve claimed my gift earlier in the month.

This is a selfie I took in the classroom, probably before my students came in that day. I'm wearing a maroon button up and my emerald green glasses. My hair is curled.

4. World Market

I always find it so fun to walk through a World Market, to see all that they have to offer. It is always diverse and unique. So I didn’t mind signing up for this membership, especially since you get a 15% off coupon for signing up. You also get a 15% off coupon on your birthday, so that is 30% I am saving on my next cool and unique purchase right there.

I've never said that I was a fashion-forward girl, but I can put together a cute and comfortable outfit from time to time. I was literally kickin' back around town.

5. Aerie/American Eagle

Since high school, American Eagle is where I go when I want to purchase jeans. When I got to college, Aerie became the place I went to when I was looking for undergarments and, as of late, work-out attire. So needless to say, I was already a member before my birthday. And every year, I get $5 to spend in store in my inbox.

6. DSW

The way that I can get my fiancée to turn his head these days is when I rock new shoes, so why not invest in a DSW membership? Plus, Paige DeSorbo just released a collection with them. Sadly, signing up on the day of my birthday means I don’t get $5 off this year, but it will be something to look forward to next year.

Look at how worn down they are! They were in a pretty decent condition when I found them, but it seems like they have boogied for the last time. How sad.
